TO RAISE ONE'S EYEBROWS

THESE PHOTOGRAPHS registered the scenes in the city today Sunday 7 March 2009. They certainly popped our eyes to see such beautiful colors decorating the city of Alor Star and it has come naturally of course. It has been dry and hot for the last several weeks. As we moved into March, dark clouds moved in and we had wet evenings in the last few days. The downpour since Friday evening seems to herald the blooms of these wayside trees and once again right to the day it is 'spring' time here. I have always waited for this magnificent day and mind you in 2005 and 2009 the trees bloomed exactly on the same date. Now I am perpelaxed as to how it could happen!

Imagine if a chose plot is taken and planted with this species , twenty to fifty trees in a grove. It will surely be a sight to behold come each March. No recourse to fly to Kyoto or Hiroshima. Most immediate action to get at least two plants as a start for our ground and its biological name of course . Unless of course some of my readers know it already. Have a great day. It has been for me a delightful one and certainly have raised many eyebrows. Granted too its Maulidul Rasul tomorrow.

They certainly remind me of the Japanese cherry blossom which blooms in early spring every year. See at this link here

Hello Kotastar, are they Japanese Cherry Blossoms?
They're beautiful.
The local government should tanam more especially in the parks.

For a moment I thought you went to Japan, ha ha.
We have them here and when Spring arrives, we'll be seeing these lovely blossoms.

It sure makes one enjoy the day and life when seeing such beautiful trees in full bloom.

You keep well Kotastar...have a pleasant week, Lee.

Hi Kotastar, looking at your 1st pic, is that lallang behind those beautiful trees?
Kalu lallang, some is asleep at the Municipality, ha ha.

Here our main papers have a special section where readers write in their complaints, re potholes, grass not cut, or whatever, plus they snap a picture with their handphones....and this is published next day.

The person incharge of this section immediately trace the problem to the right authorities, the manager's name, phone number is published...and you can bet dua goreng pisang, dua iced coffee, the problem sure gets tackled plenty fast, ha ha.

Love those trees....and oh ya, thanks for the memories re the ha ha, jambans.
I guess you and me, we have had our times ahemmm, squatting, ha ha ha. Lee.

Dear, Your observation is correct. lalang by the side of the road. They do have many excuses. The action you mentioned if the newspaper dared to adopt may see fast action too. BTW they have found a new use for lalang - as roofing just as attap. Looks grander. Read yr experience at the rest house. ha.ha Bad enough at giving away the khukri.
