BULAN SAFAR 1430

'Mandi Safar'

Kita hadiahkan ALFATIHAH.

alfatihah untuk kedua tokoh.
Dato' Ismail salleh dari SAHC,dan Dato'Ibrahim Hussein dari ISSP.

Saya kenal Dato' Ibrahim semenjak 1954 di Ibrahim School.Memang sejak muda lagi sudah terkenal kerana lukisannya.Dulu dia terkenal dengan nama samarannya MISLY ( Mohd.Ibrahim Sungai Limau Yan).

Dato'Ismail Salleh memang member Pak Non di KOlej ( SAHC dan Kirkby College).

wassalam.

Hello KotaStar, Holy Smoke! Mandi safar! You really brought back memories to me now. I had forgotten this part.

When I was 8 years old living in Malacca, every year there would be 'mandi safar', and there would be hundreds of beautiful, gaily colored decorated bullock carts heading towards Klebang and Tanjong Kling passing my house at Limbongan road.

My friends and I would sit outside the house looking, admiring them as they passed slowly by. Lots of times there would be singing too, as well pantuns between the men and women.

Then one year my Malay classmate invited to join him, his parents mandi safar.
And for the 1st time in my life I sat on a bullock cart...though I was not allowed to hold the reins, ha ha.

And we sure had fun at the picnic, eating the fantastic Malay dishes, enjoying games as well swimming in the sea.

I'm glad to know the mandi safar tradition still being carried out. Fantastic celebration and tradition.

Thanks for the memories, Kotastar, you keep well, Lee.

Hi KotaStar, hey....I love your previous posting of the beautiful resort and buildings.
I love rustic designs....but alamak, seeing the greenery, and behind me now down below semua puteh with ice and snow, ha ha.

I must pay a visit to this place bila I balek kampong one day.

You know, my favorite resort was Tanjong Jara, Trengganu.
That time it was voted by Foreign press as THE MOST beautiful holiday resort in the world.

I used to stay there very often, ahemmm, not alone of course, *wink*, ha ha.
Used to go there on weekends or bila saya chuti.
But on business will stay at Primula Hotel, Trengganu town.

And my favorite town in the East coast was Trengganu. I love that town, plus its noted nasi padang, ikan percik, ayan percik.

There was a coffeeshop by the river, near the pasar I used to go makan nasi lemak for breakfast..."kasi saya tiga bungkus incik", ha ha...and with my iced coffee, I polish off all tiga bungkus, ha ha.

And to me, the best nasi lemaks are 1/ in Alor Star, coffee shop opposite Merlin Hotel, and 2/ the shop in Trengganu.

And you can bet like General MacArthur once said, "I shall return", ha ha.
Best regards, Lee.

Dear Lee - Great to see you visiting again. I guess all that 'whitish' things around you must keep you indoor most time. The luxury of communication without having to go to the post office is surely a great help as we are discovering now. Appreciate yr views and we look forward to see you back reliving the good old time. Really good if you can dig out some of those pictures taken in Malacca if any. They would be a historic evidence now. Thanks and keep happy always.
